Jody and Carrie are recent graduates of the training program, and recipients of $1,000 Walmart stipends that helped to cover the majority of the costs for the training and course materials. Their heartwarming stories of triumph reminded me that anything is possible. During my trip, I got to meet and interview graduates such as Jody Gabriel and Carrie Hodges-Gay at the Red Cross Greater Cleveland Chapter during the program’s graduation and job fair.

Online access is granted generally within one week of registration and no later than 7 – 10 days prior to the in class sessions via e-mail.While most people were dreaming of tropical weather, I plunged deeper into the Polar Vortex this winter on a trip to Ohio for a video project with our partner Walmart that will highlight the Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training program. Price: Listed in registration table – The dates listed on registration are for the required in-person social distancing sessions (surgical or KN95 masks and scrubs are required) and all online coursework MUST be completed prior to these sessions. This is required by most employers and is a separate class/certification. Though not a prerequisite for CNA training, it is highly recommended that you also have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification card.

Prerequisites: Students must be 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. All information for state testing will be provided after your course. After successful completion of steps 1 and 2 students may apply for employment and/or register for the state exam for licensure.Classroom learning / lab – after completing the online portion of the class, students will attend 35 hours of classroom practical / testing sessions.Those who do not complete the online portion will not be allowed into the in-person sessions and must reschedule. Access to the online material will be granted soon after registration and no later than roughly 7 – 10 days prior to the classroom courses. Blended learning – Students will first complete 43 hours of online training required prior to the listed in-classroom dates.

Students must pass all portions of the training in order to graduate. The Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training course has several components. *During Covid-19 clinical rotations have been waived so that employers can hire CNAs quickly after completion of the course.* Course Information The purpose of the state exam is to make sure that the graduate understands and can safely perform in the role of an entry-level nurse assistant. The state competency exam includes both a written examination and a skills evaluation. After successful completion of the state exam (additional state testing fees may apply) you will be listed on the state Nurse Aide Registry. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Minnesota CNA competency examination. Make a difference! Become a CNA with the Red Cross Nursing Assistant Program!
